Butcher Block Countertop.
The customer had a small countertop that needed a new look. She chose a lighter color to contrast with the main countertop and give it its own special place in the room.
The countertop was made from hickory wood that was reclaimed from hardwood flooring. The nails were removed, the wood was planed and cut to the desired size before being attached together to give the striped look along the length of the countertop.
The wood was conditioned and prepped with a special butcher block oil containing organic orange and rosemary essential oils. I really like this brand:
This is after the first coat of oil
Several coats of the oil were applied with ~24 hour wait-time between coats. When the wood would not soak up any more of the oil, a protective wax was applied for protection. I like the same brand:
Here's our final product:
(It was heavy, so I struggled to move it in order to take good pictures.)
The customer installed the countertop and sent us pictures of the final product in its proper place:
It made a perfect coffee bar!
I love my coffee bar and so happy I chose you to make it for me. Awesome!
