We were happy to complete this rough edge sign!
The live edge wood is red oak. The tree was toppled during a bad storm. We offered to help a neighbor with the clean-up process and he generously gave us the wood.
The slab was cut, planed and sanded. A wood conditioner was applied to bring out the beauty of the wood.
We worked closely with the customer on the design. The information and fonts were chosen by the customer and approved.
The design was hand-painted.
Even the last details, such as the design of the heart, was discussed prior to completion.
The customer wanted a higher gloss finish applied at the end. To be honest, I was a bit hesitant with that decision. I tend to lean towards the rougher finishes but I'm really glad that I listened to the customer on this one! Their idea of a higher gloss finish looks great and adds a bit of fanciness to the piece.
I love how much that I learn with each custom order. Thank you, Linder family!
