We have been homeschooling for many years and I sometimes forget that what we do isn't the same for others. So, I decided to try adding a monthly homeschool recap to this blog to demonstrate one way (there are so many methods out there!) that homeschooling can work.
We use an eclectic method of homeschooling that leans very heavily towards the Charlotte Mason method of teaching. Without going into too much detail about this method, it can be described as very literature-heavy. We read and discuss A LOT of books. We don't spend a lot of time on workbooks, worksheets, etc., We have gravitated toward this method over the years and found that it works very well for our learners and family lifestyle.

Here are a few field trips/activities that we have participated in during the month of March:
- We continued with our co-op. The boys participate in Apologetics, IEW writing and Anatomy classes. The girls participate in Bible, PE, Writing and Science classes.
- The kids copied a work of art of their choosing from Vincent Van Gogh to finish up our unit study on this artist.
- The girls concluded their basketball season.
- We hosted playdates with friends.
- Our son participated in a Farmer's Market meeting as he prepares to set up his own booth this season.
- We celebrated a birthday with a mid-week party and games.
- Our daughter attended the local stockyards event with her cousin and Papaw.
- The boys worked hard to help set up a perimeter fence for the property.
- They helped set up compost piles in the greenhouse.
- They welcomed new chicks.
*this picture was a very temporary situation while we prepared the real brooder for habitation.
- They participated in a Salamander Search class.
- The boys started their soccer season.
- We made chocolate covered pretzels and everyone was a fan!
Baby Updates:
- She started crawling.
- Her siblings continue to spoil her.
- She started sleeping a bit better. I guess all of that crawling will wear a baby out.
- We rediscovered that a basket can temporarily contain a baby.
- She's getting some teeth!
- She played with her sisters.
