We have been homeschooling for eight years and I sometimes forget that what we do isn't the same for others. So, I decided to try adding a monthly homeschool recap to this blog to demonstrate one way (there are so many methods out there!) that homeschooling can work.
We use an eclectic method of homeschooling that leans very heavily towards the Charlotte Mason method of teaching. Without going into too much detail about this method, it can be described as very literature-heavy. We read and discuss A LOT of books. We don't spend a lot of time on workbooks, worksheets, etc., We have gravitated toward this method over the years and found that it works very well for our learners and family lifestyle.
The month of May was different for us because I spent the majority of the this month admitted to the hospital for a complication of pregnancy. We have relied on a lot of outside help for many things this month, including homeschooling.

The kids had a picnic and park day with their grandmother.
The kids finished out their soccer season.

Another homeschooling parent set up a field trip to tour the Bengals Stadium.
Our pool opened for the season, so the hubby and the kids joined friends for some fun in the sun!
The kids attended Memorial Day services with grandparents.
We typically take the month of June off from formal learning but will take advantage of various activities as they become available. I will keep you posted.
