We have been homeschooling for many years, and I sometimes forget that what we do isn't the same for others. So, I am writing a monthly homeschool recap to demonstrate one way (there are so many methods out there!) that homeschooling can work.
We use an eclectic method of homeschooling that leans very heavily towards the Charlotte Mason method of teaching. Without going into too much detail about this method, it can be described as very literature-heavy. We read and discuss A LOT of books. We don't spend a lot of time on workbooks, worksheets, etc., We have gravitated toward this method over the years and found that it works very well for our learners and family lifestyle.

Here are a few field trips/activities that we have participated in during the month of January:
- M. and G. attended 4H Embroidery Club meetings where they created pieces to submit to the fair this summer.
- M and G. attended Livestock Judging classes.
- We attended the play The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at the Ark. It was a great performance!
- We participated in a local Bible study group.
- The kids participated in our church's youth group.
- E. worked on his FFA vermiculture project.
- P. worked on his FFA woodworking project.
- M. worked on her FFA photography project.
- P. and E. prepared speeches for their FFA regional competition.
- They attended their FFA meeting and vet science classes.

- We attended the FFA site visit at the Shelby Veterinary Clinic. The kids were able to observe a surgery.

- The Hubby, P. and E. attended Krav Maga self-defense classes.
- M. and G. practiced crocheting.
- E. worked with hubby to fix the brakes on the 4-wheeler.
- They enjoyed sledding in the snow.

- M. attended Bluegrass United Middle School soccer practice. They are excited to start their season this spring.

- P. and E. are volunteering to help with the children's ministry at church.
- They prepared meals from scratch including ham steaks, butternut squash pasta, pork chops, Denvir ribs, egg bake casserole and deviled eggs.

Our lives are not what is considered normal, but we are loving it this way!
